POOL FANS WERE TREATED to an epic repeat battle in the final match of the Soaring Eagle Masters held in Mount Pleasant, MI. Kelly Fisher and Jasmin Ouschan had faced off in similar fashion last year with the Austrian capturing the title, so this year it was Fisher seeking redemption and revenge.
Unlike last year, however, it was Ouschan who had to fight through the loss side for the chance to meet Fisher in the final. It was a closely contested match which concluded with Ouschan on top, 10-8.
Allison Fisher, the “other Fisher” who also normally dominates in women’s tournaments, had a disappointing run finishing in 13th-16th place. Among the top ten finishers it was a pleasant surprise to see players such as Veronique Menard and Kristina Zlateva place alongside Margarita Fefilova, Tzu-Chien Wei, Seo Seoa, and Kristina Tkach.
The WPBA offered free streams of the main table throughout the event via YouTube, with various players filling in as commentators. Although the video quality of the streams weren’t top notch, they were still enjoyable with lively commentary and interactions with live viewers. The commentators also made sure to thank the fans who had donated in order to make the free streams possible.
