In women's tour, no news is bad news
There's more that can be done to support the players, starting with a constant, reliable source for updates

THE FIRST WOMEN’S PRO TOURNAMENT OF 2023 just concluded over the weekend. The Fisher sisters (just kidding), Kelly Fisher and Allison Fisher, took first and second place, respectively (video of the final match), at the WPBA Fairfield Invitational in Iowa.
Other top finishers include Wei Tzu-Chien (3rd), Kristina Tkach (4th), Kristina Zlateva and Margaret Fefilova (5th/6th), and Monica Webb and Savannah Easton (7th/8th). Not many surprises there except kudos to aspiring junior, Savannah, for finishing top eight!
But you wouldn’t have known since all that information was buried in Facebook and Instagram (both owned by Meta). WPBA also tweets, albeit scarcely, by the looks of its Twitter stream. Interestingly, all these social network feeds are not synchronized — as if each account is owned and operated by a different person with different work schedules. Instead of directing all internet visitor traffic to the WPBA website, fans have to check/follow these social media feeds. Furthermore, the WPBA website appears neglected when it comes to the latest news — no updates since July 2021:
It would’ve been much more effective to publish updates on the website, then have them automatically posted to various social media accounts. There are tools to accomplish such a feat. The website should be the one source of official information and news.
It’ll be easier for the fans. It’ll be easier for the organization. And it’ll be easier for search engines to crawl and index pages.
Just try to google “who won the WBPA Fairfield Invitational 2023” — the result (or lack thereof) will frustrate any fan… and newsletter author.
W.S.T. CLASSIC INTO ROUND 4. Ronnie O’Sullivan had to forfeit against David Grace in Round 2 due to an elbow injury. Pang Junxu ends Jimmy White’s impressive run. The 61-year-old White had defeated Graeme Dott, Joe Perry, and a surprise upset, Judd Trump. Follow the live scores here.
BILLY THORPE WINS THE MCDERMOTT CLASSIC AND NIELS FEIJEN WINS THE BOSNIA OPEN. The “Thorpedo” was back in action and in good form at the McDermott Classic at Amazin Billiards in Boston. Niels “the Terminator” Feijen captured the title to the Bosnia Open. Both tournaments were Matchroom Nineball ranking events so congratulations to them.
